SF-ADAPT is dedicated to fostering research and development collaborations that directly benefit small- and medium-scale farming operations. We aim to bridge the gap between advanced agricultural technology and the practical needs of farmers, ensuring that innovations are not only effective but also accessible.

 

Engagement Opportunities

 

1. Participate in local ag technology events

• Workshops and Continuing Education: Sessions on topics such as taxes, digital technology, production technology, and farm management. Opportunities to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs).

• Annual Conference: The Small Farm Tech Expo is an annual event showcasing new technology, tools, and equipment tailored for small-scale farms.

2.  Innovation Connection

• Connecting Farmers with Developers: Facilitate connections between farmers and technology developers to trial new technology on farms. Collaborate on pilot projects to innovate and improve farming practices.

• Testing and Demonstration Sites: Utilize facilities at Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center for testing new equipment and technologies.

3. Networking opportunities

• Stipends and Conference Tickets: Travel stipends and tickets for farmers to attend key conferences.

• Network with industry leaders and other farmers at these events.

4. Small Farm Innovation Challenge

• Innovation Competition: An annual challenge that encourages stakeholders to develop and present innovative solutions for small-scale farming.

• Opportunities to serve as a judge for the competition or sponsor the event to support innovation in small-scale farming.​

5. Tool Sharing Library

• Borrowing Program: Access to tools, equipment, and devices for trial before purchase or for sustainable practice adoption.

• Hands-On Demonstrations: Demonstrations on farms and at test areas like Kearney Agriculture Research and Extension Center, West Side Research and Extension Center, and partner institutions.

• Training and Maintenance: Kearney Agriculture Research and Extension Center coordinates equipment/tool lending, maintenance, repair, and safety training.
